Description

What kind of wine it is

Barolo Riserva 10 anni produced by Bel Colle is a still red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the municipality of Verduno, Piedmont. It hails from the renowned Monvigliero and Boscatto vineyards, boasting a full-bodied and structured style supported by an austere framework and velvety tannins. Its aromatic profile and extended oak aging provide a clear expression of the terroir, resulting in both precision and elegance in the glass.

Where it comes from

This Barolo originates in Verduno and combines the unique characteristics of two specific plots, Monvigliero and Boscatto. The rows are situated at an altitude between 300 and 350 meters above sea level, rooted in calcareous-clay soils. The exposure promotes gradual ripening, while the soil composition ensures a distinctive structural imprint and deep tannic definition, guaranteeing a distinctly territorial and long-lasting profile.

How it is made

Vinification begins with a fifteen-day maceration on the skins, coupled with fermentation by indigenous yeasts. The wine then matures separately for five years in large oak barrels, a process that keeps the grapes from the two plots distinct. Afterwards, the lots are blended and further aged for five years in Allier barrels, an essential step that defines the product’s complexity and stability over time.

Tasting notes

In the glass it reveals an intense garnet color, a true reflection of its long maturation path. On the nose, it opens with an elegant bouquet of dried red flowers and ripe fruit—notably raspberry and morello cherry—enriched by delicate spicy hints. On the palate, it is dry, robust, and full-bodied, led by velvety tannins and an austere structure which provides persistence and a firm, clean finish.

Food pairings

This red pairs beautifully with braised game and slow-cooked red meats. Its significant structure and dry mouthfeel make it ideal for accompanying braised or roasted dishes, as it enhances rich and hearty preparations. When paired with dishes from the Piedmontese tradition, it brings out the wine's spicy components and the dish’s intense flavors, creating a perfect balance without ever overpowering the palate.

When to serve

It is the perfect choice to lend a touch of elegance to structured lunches and occasions that call for a classically styled and rigorous red. Serving at the proper temperature is essential, allowing its complex tannic weave and aromatic bouquet to fully express themselves. Thanks to its prolonged cellaring and solid profile, it is superbly suited to aging, ensuring a broad drinking window over the medium and long term.
