Description
What type of wine it is
Campo al Faro's Bolgheri Superiore is a Tuscan red born in Castagneto Carducci from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Vinification includes temperature-controlled fermentation in steel, enhanced by extended maceration. This is followed by aging in French oak barriques and a period of bottle refinement. The result is a structured and fruity wine, with a distinct mineral profile.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of the Bolgheri area along the captivating Tuscan coast. The region benefits from an ideal maritime climate, which promotes consistent grape ripening. This unmistakable sense of place gives the wine a strong and defined identity. In the glass, this character emerges through a distinct minerality that perfectly balances the robust texture of the sip.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-selected before beginning fermentation in temperature-controlled steel vats. The delicate extraction phase involves prolonged skin contact, crucial for extracting color and body. Maturation continues for sixteen months in French oak barriques, half of which are new, then completed by six months of bottle aging to harmonize tannins and wood notes.
Tasting notes
To the eye, it displays an intense ruby hue of remarkable depth. The aromatic profile is generous and nuanced, with spicy notes blending with hints of wild berries. On the palate, it reveals vigor, supported by a precise structure and a balanced persistence. The finish is clean, with consistent fruity echoes interwoven throughout.
Pairings
The intensity of this bottle calls for thoughtful pairings—excellent alongside red meat main courses or game-based recipes. Its layered, spicy character provides just the right balance for rich pasta dishes and aged cheeses. Served with game or red meats, it highlights their inherent succulence while preserving the meal’s aromatic harmony.
When to serve it
A red to uncork for elevating dinners or important lunches centered on hearty dishes. Thanks to skillful aging in barrel and bottle, it boasts excellent cellaring potential, ensuring ordered evolution over the years. Enjoyable right away for its vivid fruitiness, it reveals even more complexity if left to mature, as its balanced structure emerges when served at the right temperature.
