Description

What type of wine it is

Brunello di Montalcino by Pian del Prete is a Tuscan red wine made from Sangiovese grapes. It expresses itself with a full and spicy profile, supported by well-integrated soft tannins that blend seamlessly with the overall structure. The prolonged aging in wood and subsequent bottle maturation give it great elegance and persistence, making it ideal for the most intense pairings.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in the renowned Montalcino area, characterized by limestone soils enriched with clay and schist. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 350 meters, a position that promotes balanced growth of the vines. Marine breezes from the Maremma ensure a well-ventilated climate that provides the ideal conditions for the cultivation and regular ripening of the grapes.

How it is produced

The production process begins with fermentation in stainless steel tanks for a period ranging from fifteen to twenty days. Maturation continues with a lengthy aging of twenty months in oak casks, followed by a further four months in barriques. The cycle is completed by six months’ rest in bottle, essential for harmonizing the taste components and stabilizing the structure before consumption.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a garnet red color, a testament to its careful evolution. The aromatic profile offers intense aromas dominated by clear notes of licorice and cherry, composing a distinctive bouquet. On the palate, it is full-bodied, spicy, sustained by a well-integrated tannic weave, and closes with a long, persistent finish that highlights the balance of the sip.

Food pairings

Its important structure makes it particularly recommended for pairing with game dishes and generous boards of aged cheeses. Its organoleptic qualities allow it to support intense flavors without losing definition on the palate. It pairs naturally with robustly flavored courses, where the wine’s spicy texture fully enhances its aromatic characteristics.

When to serve it

This label is an excellent choice for dinners featuring strongly flavored meats, as it requires pairings with strong personality. Thanks to its careful aging, it presents itself in the glass with a well-ordered flavor profile, suited for moments when you want to serve a full and elegant wine. It gives its best on convivial occasions where a tasting of notable persistence and balance is sought.
