Description
What kind of wine it is
Nipozzano Vecchie Viti Collezione Privata by Frescobaldi is a Tuscan red wine classified as Chianti Rùfina Riserva. This unique expression results from a masterful blend of Sangiovese grapes, complemented by Malvasia Nera, Colorino, and Canaiolo. Careful vinification and a long rest in the historic cellars shape a profile of exceptional balance. The style is fresh and complex, featuring well-integrated tannins and remarkable potential for aging over time.
Where it comes from
This wine is crafted in the historic Castello di Nipozzano estate, located in the Florentine area within the renowned Chianti Rùfina Appellation. The area has always been devoted to the cultivation of quality Sangiovese. The hillside position of the vineyards and the land’s long-standing viticultural vocation provide this Tuscan Riserva with a precise aromatic definition and balanced structure, faithfully reflecting the character of its birthplace.
How it is produced
The grapes come from the oldest vines of the estate and are harvested and carefully selected by hand. In the cellar, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and is combined with a twenty-day maceration on the skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes a long aging of twenty-four months in oak barrels, followed by an additional three months of bottle aging.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it reveals an intense ruby red color, the result of extended extraction. The bouquet opens with fragrant scents of apricot blossom and dog rose, enriched by elegant hints of vanilla from the oak aging. On the palate, it displays freshness and complexity, offering a silky, well-blended tannic texture. The sip finishes with a persistent finale, dominated by pleasant fruity and spicy notes.
Food pairings
Its robust structure makes it the ideal match for game, from the delicate meats of quail, partridge, and woodcock to the more robust flavors of fallow deer and venison. It pairs perfectly with traditional Tuscan recipes, as it enhances rich dishes like peposo all’imprunetina. The aromatic intensity and taste balance also make it a natural companion for braised or stewed meats, where the dish’s spicy nuances connect with the subtle oak-derived notes.
When to serve it
The complexity of this wine makes it perfect for lunches and dinners featuring rich and structured dishes. Thanks to its lengthy barrel aging, it boasts excellent suitability for cellar aging, a characteristic that allows for further development and aromatic integration. It is an excellent choice for accompanying important convivial moments, always providing a balanced sip and a satisfying, persistent finish.
