Description
What kind of wine it is
Scaia Garganega-Chardonnay by Tenuta Sant’Antonio is a white wine from Veneto made from Garganega, Trebbiano di Soave, and Chardonnay grapes. This blend displays a fresh and immediate style, balancing a lively acidity with softness. Maturation in stainless steel preserves the varietal aromas and provides a clean and linear profile. Low-temperature fermentation enhances floral and citrus notes, making it suitable for those seeking a versatile, ready-to-drink white.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located between Colognola ai Colli and Mezzane di Sotto, in the hilly area of the Monti Lessini, at an altitude between 200 and 300 meters. The temperate climate with marked temperature shifts, aided by breezes from the Adige valley, allows the grapes to develop complex aromas. The calcareous-clay soils, rich in stones, ensure optimal drainage and contribute to wines with structure and savoriness. The region has a long viticultural history tied to indigenous varieties.
How it is produced
The grapes are harvested by hand in crates to preserve the quality of the bunches. After a brief cold maceration of 10-12 hours, gentle pressing follows. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 14-15 °C, keeping the primary aromas fresh. The wine remains on the fine lees for several months and ages exclusively in steel, with no time spent in wood, allowing the blend’s purity and fruit-driven character to shine.
Tasting notes
Visually, it appears straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is rich: acacia blossoms and jasmine emerge, followed by hints of grapefruit, orange, and lemon zest, with touches of pineapple. On the palate, it is lively and balanced, with a sustained acidity that brings freshness, while softness and savoriness round out the sip harmoniously, leaving a persistent, fruity finish.
Pairings
This wine pairs well with appetizers like cured meats and fresh cheeses, pasta or rice salads with crunchy vegetables. It is perfect with light fish dishes such as steamed sea bream fillet or prawn skewers, and with risottos featuring asparagus or zucchini. Among local pairings, "spuma" and "baccalà alla vicentina" remain classics, while risotto all’Amarone creates an interesting contrast with the wine’s freshness.
When to serve
Scaia Garganega-Chardonnay by Tenuta Sant’Antonio is meant to be enjoyed young, within a few years of bottling, showcasing its aromatic freshness. Thanks to its balanced structure, it is ideal for informal gatherings. Serve at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C to highlight its clean taste and bright aromas.
