Description
What type of wine it is
The Pinot Grigio from Ronco del Frassino is a white wine from the Friuli appellation, showing an intense straw-yellow color, a structured palate and a long, persistent finish.
Where it comes from
It originates from the terraced vineyards of the Ronco del Frassino estate, located on the hills of Collio in Friuli Venezia Giulia; the so-called "ronchi", immersed in a woodland landscape with a strong presence of ash trees, from which the estate takes its name. The label evokes this ecosystem through the figure of Cuculus canorus, the common cuckoo that inhabits these woods, perching on the highest ash branches.
How it is produced
The Pinot Grigio grapes are destemmed and subjected to soft pressing; the must is then settled and filtered for greater clarity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18°C, followed by maturation, again in steel.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows a deep straw yellow. On the nose it releases elegant hints of vanilla and white-fleshed fruit such as apple and pear. On the palate it is structured, with a long, persistent finish.
Food pairing
It is the ideal wine to accompany hearty soups and risottos with white meats, as well as boiled white meats or a chicken breast.
When to serve it
Thanks to its freshness and balanced structure, it is best served at 10–12°C, ideal for casual lunches featuring risottos and white meats, but also as a versatile choice for the aperitif.
