Description

What kind of wine it is

Gattinara by Travaglini is a structured and elegant red wine, produced exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes in northern Piedmont. This territorial expression offers a full and satisfying profile, characterized by a distinctive mineral texture and significant persistence. The expert aging in wood helps define a balanced style, capable of combining power and aromatic finesse.

Where it comes from

This red wine is born from vineyards located in the municipality of Gattinara, in the Vercelli area, a place that imparts a highly recognizable character. The northern Piedmontese territory encourages the development of a Nebbiolo with a distinctive identity, gifting the glass with a pronounced mineral imprint and a well-calibrated spicy profile. The geographical origin translates into a sip focused on structure and clarity, accompanied by a long and clean finish.

How it is produced

The grape clusters are harvested and entirely hand-selected during the first ten days of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for about fifteen days, thus preserving the integrity of the fruit and the precision of the aromas. The process continues with a total maturation of thirty-six months, of which twenty-four are spent in Slavonian oak barrels and a further period of rest in the bottle before being marketed.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the wine displays an intense garnet red robe, consistent with the long aging period. The olfactory examination reveals delicate spicy notes, supported and defined by a clear and enveloping minerality. On the palate, it appears full-bodied and shows a compact gustatory progression that leads to a pleasantly persistent finish, based on harmony and continuity.

Food pairings

Thanks to its intensity, this Piedmontese red pairs effectively with flavorful, rich pasta dishes. It naturally accompanies various meat-based preparations, from roasted dishes to more elaborate recipes, and also supports aged cheeses very well. It is particularly recommended alongside a meat ragù, where the texture of the food finds a perfect counterpoint in the wine's structure.

When to serve it

Gattinara by Travaglini is ideal for occasions that call for a structured wine, able to stand up to important courses and accompany a meal to the very last sip. It is an excellent choice for gatherings that require complexity and persistence and that appreciate the long aging done in the cellar. Let it breathe in the glass for a few minutes, so it has time to fully express its aromatic profile.
