Description

What kind of wine it is

The Aglianico by Bosco del Sabato is a red wine produced on the hills of Irpinia. Made from single-varietal grapes, it offers a smooth profile as a direct expression of the grape. The winemaking process preserves its freshness and fruity weave thanks to aging that respects the aromatic integrity. This red stands out for its pleasant intensity and balances the warmth of the fruit pulp with a delicate spicy note.

Where it comes from

This wine is born in Irpinia, an area in Campania with a deep winemaking tradition. The vineyards are set in a hilly environment ideal for the proper ripening of the grapes. The characteristics of the territory impart clear aromas and a vibrant aesthetic in the glass. The landscape is reflected in a sip that merges the native variety and the grounds of origin, for an essential and coherent tale of Campania provenance.

How it is made

Vinification begins with a cold pre-maceration to facilitate the extraction of color and aromas. This is followed by a temperature-controlled fermentation for about fifteen days to keep the aromatic expression unchanged. Maturation mostly takes place in steel and is completed by a brief passage in French oak barrique that enriches the structure with subtle spicy hints while respecting the fruit’s character.

Tasting notes

In the glass it shows a ruby red color lit by purple reflections. The nose is marked by red fruits such as cherry, black cherry, and blackcurrant wrapped in spicy undertones. The palate is smooth and harmonious, carried by a measured progression. The sip closes cleanly with a finish evoking wild blackberry and cherry puree, consistently echoing the aromas detected on the nose.

Pairings

With its smoothness and distinct fruity identity, this red easily complements various dishes. It sits well alongside starters and flavorful first courses, fitting seamlessly into traditional country fare. Its slender structure enhances red meats in different preparations and portions of aged cheese, where the spicy notes harmoniously balance the savory character of the ingredients.

When to serve it

The balanced nature of this red makes it suitable for lunches and dinners centered around rustic flavors. It pairs well with meals featuring meat or cheese dishes, enriching the tasting experience. The balance between steel and wood gives a well-measured sip, ideal for convivial moments. It offers an accessible drinking experience for those who appreciate red wines with good intensity on the nose and palate.
