Description

What kind of wine is it

The Riesling by L’Astemia Pentita is a still white wine produced in Piedmont, within the renowned Langhe denomination. Vinified in stainless steel, it maintains an essential style, characterized by clear fruit aromas and a distinctive mineral finish. The brief cold maceration before pressing helps shape its aromatic profile, while the palate remains smooth and versatile. This wine offers a faithful narrative of its territory, combining technical precision in the cellar with attentive tasting.

Where it comes from

This Riesling comes from vineyards located at high altitude, between 400 and 450 meters above sea level. The parcels’ location in typical Piedmontese hill country favors a taut and linear expression, thanks to the temperature variation between exposures. Although the Langhe area is historically celebrated for outstanding red wines, it also displays a remarkable vocation for white grape varieties. In this territorial context, the estate’s interpretation stands out for its distinctive clarity, focused on balance.

How it is produced

Production begins with a brief cold maceration of the grapes, immediately followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation and subsequent vinification take place in stainless steel tanks, a technical choice that limits oxidative impact and preserves the fruit’s aromatic integrity. The wine completes an initial six-month maturation in steel, during which it consolidates its structure. Maturation then continues with a nine-month period resting in bottle, allowing the flavor profile to harmonize without any wood aging.

Tasting notes

On the eye, the wine shows a delicate straw yellow color, enhanced by bright greenish highlights that anticipate its freshness. The nose reveals distinct and recognizable aromas of peach and citrus, accompanied by a mineral note that completes the aromatic picture with great precision. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, distinguished by its smooth progression and linear style. The persistence on the palate consistently recalls the fruity elements and sensations already perceived on the nose.

Food pairings

Ideal as an aperitif, this white wine is perfect at the table alongside vegetable-based dishes and seafood specialties. Its citrusy character enhances simple preparations such as steamed vegetables and seasonal salads, as well as typical Piedmontese dishes like Russian salad or a light bagna cauda. It also pairs beautifully with seafood dishes, bringing balance to baked fillets, delicate carpaccios, and simple preparations. Its measured structure highlights the dishes and keeps the sip lively and clean.

When to serve it

This Riesling is perfect for relaxed yet refined occasions, accompanying the event from aperitif to the end of the meal. Careful vinification and time in glass make it ideal for immediate enjoyment for those seeking a white wine with a fresh and straightforward style. It is the right choice when the menu calls for a seamless link between the lightness of the food and the precision of the wine. A glass that enhances the expressive clarity of the grape variety, offering a smooth and satisfying sip without requiring long waits.
