Description
Rosso di Montalcino Vigna Banditella by Col D'Orcia is a red wine produced in the municipality of Montalcino, on the Sant'Angelo hill with a southern exposure and an altitude between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. The grapes come from a vineyard planted in 1998 with Sangiovese clones selected in collaboration with the University of Florence, representing one of the most typical expressions of the territory. Harvesting is done by hand with a careful selection of the grape clusters.
Vinification involves a medium-long maceration in wide, low vats at a temperature of 25°C to preserve freshness and longevity. Two pump-overs a day and two délestages are carried out in the first days of fermentation for a delicate yet effective extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for about a year in barriques and tonneaux made from French oak sourced from the Allier forest.
It displays a deep ruby red color. The bouquet is broad and complex, with notes of cherry, raspberry, and light spicy nuances, enriched by sweet toasted hints such as vanilla. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, with fine and persistent tannins, closing with an elegant and long finish with toasted recalls.
Ideal paired with roasted meats and tasty dishes from the Tuscan tradition.
