Sapid and with a beautiful officinal temper also in the 2021 release this Kerner, enveloping nose, with notes of bergamot, then apricot and rosemary. Tense, brackish-savory mouth, with a fruity-officinal return.

Description

What kind of wine is it

Südtirol Alto Adige Kerner by Blumenfeld is a structured white wine made from Kerner grapes, a cross between the Trollinger and Riesling varieties. This label, cultivated in the alpine landscape of the Valle di Isarco, stands out for its full-bodied and balanced sensory profile. The production style aims to enhance an intensely aromatic matrix supported by a freshness that makes it immediately pleasant to drink.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow in the Valle di Isarco, a mountainous area in Alto Adige. The vineyards stretch across steep, sun-kissed slopes situated at an altitude between six hundred and eight hundred meters above sea level. The characteristic sandy and clayey soils force the vines to seek nourishment deep down and favor a slow ripening which positively affects the wine’s consistency.

How it is produced

Harvesting takes place at the beginning of October to take advantage of the grapes' late ripening, essential for defining the structure and intensity of the sip. In the cellar, the selected clusters undergo a gentle pressing that allows the varietal's organoleptic qualities to remain intact. Fermentation at controlled temperatures and maturation in steel tanks ensure expressive clarity.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow shade with delicate greenish highlights. The nose opens with an intense bouquet led by distinctive white-fleshed fruit aromas and enriched by a spicy hint reminiscent of nutmeg. On the palate, it reveals a decisive yet balanced character, supported by a vibrancy that makes for a very smooth drink.

Food pairings

Its versatility makes it ideal with light and flavorful appetizers as well as charcuterie boards. The aromatic nature of this white wine pairs well with dishes based on eggs and mushrooms, enhancing the flavors of the meal. It is also a valid choice as an aperitif and smoothly accompanies delicate preparations of freshwater fish or selections of seafood.

When to serve it

This white is perfect for casual, convivial occasions, offering a refreshing yet characterful sip. It shows its best qualities during an aperitif or alongside a flavorful menu. Thanks to precise technical work, it is best enjoyed in the months following bottling when its aromatic fragrance and gustatory vivacity reach their peak.
