Prosciutto and melon

The pairing of Italian prosciutto crudo and melon requires a balance between the saltiness of the cured meat and the sweetness of the fruit. For delicacies such as prosciutto Parma or San Daniele, wines are needed that refresh the palate without overpowering the main ingredient. A Friulano is the ideal choice: its smoothness and almondy finish create a perfect bridge with the aging of the prosciutto.

Alternatively, a Pinot Bianco or a Malvasia offer the floral freshness needed to accompany melon with discretion. If you prefer sparkling wines, a Prosecco Superiore Extra Dry is perfect: its slight residual sugar pairs with the fruit, while the perlage cleanses the palate of the fat in the cured meat, making the meal lively and light.
