Originally from the Caribbean, rum is a liquor generally obtained from the distillation of fermented cane molasses, often flavored with herbs to enrich its aromatic bouquet. Almost colorless when fresh, it takes on a color ranging from yellow to brown due to aging, sometimes enhanced by the addition of caramel.

Depending on its origin, it's possible to distinguish rums from Jamaica, Cuba, etc. Special attention deserves the French Antilles rum, Agricole, obtained from sugar cane juice produced on the islands of St. Barthelemy, Guadeloupe, Les Saintes, and Martinique.

Agricultural rums are more complex, with floral and fruity notes, which, with aging, are enriched by the balsamic aromas conferred by the wood; these are particularly structured and complex distillates, more suitable for aging, and the only ones that can boast the controlled designation of origin.

Ideal to serve neat, in the Blanco version, rum is the main ingredient in various cocktails and long drinks.
