Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG is a historical denomination of Tuscany that includes the territory of the only municipality of Montepulciano in the province of Siena. The ampelographic base is set in a minimum of 70% of prugnolo gentile, a local biotype of Sangiovese, up to 30% of other authorized vines in the Tuscany region can compete, with a maximum of 5% of white berried grapes.
The Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG wine must undergo a minimum aging period of 2 years and an aging of 6 months in bottle. For the Riserva version there is a minimum aging period of 3 years and 6 months of bottle aging. It is a great red wine, a true excellence of the Classic area of Tuscany.
