Description

What kind of wine is it?

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico produced by Tommasi is a structured red wine made from Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes. Its character is defined by a carefully selected drying process, which gives the wine an intense profile and a distinctive velvety texture. Aging in Slavonian oak barrels enhances its aromatic and flavorful depth. It is a faithful interpretation of the Veneto region, characterized by a pleasing complexity and distinct fruity aromas.

Where does it come from?

This wine comes from the La Groletta and Conca d'Oro vineyards, nestled on the hills of Sant'Ambrogio. We are located in the Valpolicella Classica region , where viticulture expresses a clear and distinct territorial identity. The exposure of the hillside vineyards guarantees the fruit a marked intensity and provides ideal conditions for the appassimento technique that defines the style of this historic and renowned Veneto production area.

How it is produced

The Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes are harvested in October and immediately laid out on special racks. The bunches rest in large drying rooms for three months, where they undergo a slow drying process that naturally concentrates their aromatic and sugary components. The wine then ages in temperature-controlled Slavonian oak barrels until bottling. This process restores the richness of the dried grapes combined with a smooth texture.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a strikingly intense ruby red color, enriched with deep purple highlights. The nose is distinguished by its cleanliness and finesse, revealing clear aromas of ripe cherries and plums. On the palate, it is full-bodied, complex, and velvety, supported by a solid body that consistently fills the palate. The progression of the flavors is consistent with the nose and concludes with persistent and enveloping aromas of dried grapes. The palate combines high aromatic intensity with a satisfying and sustained roundness.

What does it pair with?

The fullness and smoothness of this red wine make it the ideal companion for red meat and game dishes. It pairs naturally with intensely flavored dishes, as its dense, velvety texture withstands prolonged cooking. It also finds great balance with mature cheeses, where the fruity aromas balance the dish's savory flavors. With a regional twist, it faithfully complements the Venetian gastronomic tradition and finds its perfect expression in braised beef in Amarone, enhancing its concentration.

When to serve it

It's ideal for occasions requiring a full-bodied red, capable of supporting the complexity of meat-based dinners or cheese selections. The texture derived from the drying process and subsequent aging in wood ensure it will enjoy a long wait in the bottle. It shows interesting aging potential, capable of developing more relaxed aromas in the medium term. Its structural immediacy makes it enjoyable from the moment it's opened, offering a complex and enveloping profile ideal for accompanying convivial moments.
