Description
What kind of wine is it
Barolo Cerretta Giovanni Rosso is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Serralunga d’Alba, in the Cerretta cru. The style is elegant and structured, with dense tannins and good aromatic depth. The winemaking process includes fermentation in cement tanks and maceration on the skins for about a month, followed by traditional aging in large French oak barrels.
Where does it come from
The vineyards of Giovanni Rosso are located in Serralunga d’Alba, one of the most renowned areas of Barolo, and include parcels in historic crus such as Cerretta, La Serra, Broglio, Meriame, Sorano, Costabella, Lirano, and Damiano. Barolo Cerretta comes from a plot selected for its microclimate and soil composition, features that offer a refined and solid profile, strongly tied to the identity of the territory.
How is it produced
Fermentation takes place in cement tanks, a choice that allows precise management in a neutral container. This is followed by a maceration on the skins for about a month, useful for extracting color and tannic components in a decisive yet controlled way. After racking, the wine matures for a long period in large French oak barrels, with aging aimed at integrating the components and defining the character of Nebbiolo.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a garnet color. On the nose, scents of dried flowers and violets emerge, with delicate spices and small red fruits outlining a clear profile. On the palate, it offers good body, with dense tannins and a deep, persistent aromatic texture that carries through and finishes with a long, well-marked finale.
Food pairings
It pairs well with game, where structure and tannins support flavorful meats and rich preparations. It is also ideal with braised beef, thanks to its persistent taste and aromatic depth. Its approach makes it suitable for rich main courses and slow-cooked dishes, where succulence calls for a red wine with character and ongoing presence on the palate.
When to serve it
This is a wine to serve when you want a structured and precise red, perfect for important lunches and meat-based dinners. The combination of elegance, dense tannins, and prolonged aging in large barrels also makes it suitable for further aging in bottle, for those who appreciate more integrated components. It gives its best on occasions where attention can be given to the glass and the pace of the meal.
