Description

What kind of wine is it

Barolo di Mauro Veglio is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the areas of La Morra and Monforte d’Alba in the Langhe. Vinification involves fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks with maceration on the skins, followed by aging in small oak barrels. The result is a structured and balanced style, with smooth tannins and a fruity profile that pairs well with richly flavored dishes.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the areas of La Morra and Monforte d’Alba, historic territories for Barolo in Piedmont. The vineyards grow on Miocene-Helvetian soils rich in limestone and marl, an ideal composition for Nebbiolo and for the definition of the tannic framework. This setting allows for intense expression and balanced flavor progression, with good persistence.

How it is made

After harvesting, fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature for 10–15 days, with maceration in contact with the skins. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine ages for 24 months in small oak barrels, partially new, to integrate the varietal profile with a well-dosed contribution from the wood.

Tasting notes

In the glass it displays a ruby red color of medium intensity with garnet hues. On the nose it is intense and harmonious, with predominant red fruit and an ethereal hint in the background. On the palate it offers warmth and balance, with smooth tannins and appreciable persistence; the finish recalls a vanilla aftertaste due to its aging in oak.

Food pairing

It pairs best with main courses of red meat and dishes based on game. Its structure, warmth and refined tannins support substantial textures and long cooking times, maintaining balance and continuity with every sip.

When to serve it

It is recommended for structured lunches and dinners, when a balanced and persistent red is desired alongside meat and game. Served in large glasses, it enhances the red fruit, ethereal nuances and the vanilla note on the finish in an orderly fashion.
