Description
What type of wine is it
Beaune 1er Cru Les Montrevenots by Antoine Jobard is a red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes, originating from a premier cru vineyard bordering Pommard. It stands out for its medium body, taut structure, and fine tannins balanced by a measured touch of oak. The meticulous vinification offers a faithful interpretation of the grape variety and enhances the identity of the Beaune soils with a dynamic and structured taste profile.
Where does it come from
The wine comes from the namesake vineyard on the edge between Beaune and Pommard, along the side of Montagne Saint-Désiré. The vines, situated at three hundred meters above sea level, are among the highest parcels in the appellation. This high-altitude location guarantees a linear aromatic development. The slope of the land gives the palate its typical taste tension and remarkable persistence.
How is it produced
The process begins with a manual harvest of the grapes at optimal ripeness. After a five-day cold pre-maceration, the must ferments in French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. This is followed by twelve months of aging in partly new oak barrels to gain complexity. This aging phase integrates the contribution of the oak and preserves the varietal clarity.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red color. The nose reveals woody aromas intertwined with clear forest fruit notes, with blackberry and raspberry standing out. The palate reveals a medium-bodied structure with a subtle, well-integrated tannic weave that gives pace to the sip. The experience closes with a crisp and tense finish, marked by excellent aromatic persistence.
Food pairings
At the table, it pairs excellently with hearty first courses and red meats in general. The dense tannic structure makes it the ideal companion for recipes with concentrated sauces, such as pasta with ragù, where succulence balances the acidity. It pairs perfectly with grilled meats and roasts, ensuring great pace on the palate. Its harmonious profile supports intense flavors without ever overpowering them.
When to serve it
It is the ideal choice to accompany structured dinners, guaranteeing solid gustatory support. The oak aging and tannic texture give this bottle a marked capacity for evolution, perfect for cellar ageing. At serving, it expresses itself best with bold-flavored menus. It’s recommended for those seeking a characterful tasting, precise and enduring over time.
