Description
What type of wine it is
Beaune 1er Cru Les Montrevenots by Antoine Jobard is a red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the heart of Beaune. It features a structured and complex profile, with freshness reminiscent of the finest Burgundy crus. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, enhancing the purity of the grape and the terroir. Aging for twelve months in partially new wood adds finesse and depth while maintaining a balance between structure and drinkability.
Where it comes from
The Les Montrevenots vineyard is located near Pommard, on the southern slope of the Montagne Saint-Désiré hill, about 300 meters above sea level. The area is historically recognized for the quality of its Premier Cru vineyards.
How it is produced
Grapes are hand-harvested with a careful selection of ripe bunches. After harvest, the grapes undergo a cold pre-maceration for five days to extract aromas and stabilize phenolic compounds. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, followed by twelve months of aging in partially new barrels.
Tasting notes
The appearance shows a deep, bright ruby red color. The bouquet offers forest fruits, blackberry and raspberry, with possible toasted notes due to the oak. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with polished tannins and a savory structure supporting the sip. The finish is vibrant and mineral, with hints of undergrowth.
Food pairings
Beaune 1er Cru Les Montrevenots pairs well with hearty pasta dishes such as tajarin with game ragù or red wine risotto, and balances perfectly with grilled or braised red meats. Its structure and freshness enhance dishes like boeuf bourguignon and sliced beef with arugula and parmesan. Traditional recipes such as carbonade flamande and beef stews also highlight its aromatic profile.
When to serve it
It is recommended to serve Beaune 1er Cru Les Montrevenots at a moderate serving temperature in large glasses to facilitate aeration. The wine is ready after a few years and offers good aging potential. Ideal for autumn and winter meals and suitable for special occasions thanks to its structure and complexity.
