The Grand Cru "Les Chemins d'Avize" by Larmandier-Bernier is a tribute to the exceptional terroir of Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Here, the chalky soils enhance the purity of the Chardonnay, giving the wine a sharp minerality and an innate elegance. Fruit of a late harvest and vinification in wood, this Champagne reveals a muscular and vinous structure, with notes of citrus and toasted almonds. A sensory experience that celebrates the craftsmanship of the Larmandier family and the true essence of the terroir. A masterpiece for those who desire a Champagne of great depth and complexity.

Description

What kind of wine is it?

Larmandier-Bernier's Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Les Chemins d’Avize is a wine made exclusively with Chardonnay from the village of Avize. This Blanc de Blancs features a dry, smooth, and medium-bodied profile. Crafted according to the Traditional Method, it matures carefully to deliver a concentrated, compact, and deep consistency on the palate.

Where does it come from?

This wine is born from two ancient vineyards located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, within the Champagne denomination. The soil of this area is particularly rich in chalk, which imparts a pronounced tension and clear mineral character to the glass. The vines, over sixty years old, convey an elegant and defined expression, blending delicate floral notes with a marked saline sensation.

How is it produced?

After gentle pressing, the first fermentation occurs spontaneously in oak barrels using native yeasts. The base wine matures in wood for about eleven months, gaining structure before undergoing bottle refermentation as required by the Traditional Method. This is followed by meticulous aging on the lees for at least six years, a crucial process to guarantee the fineness of the bubbles and aromatic complexity.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a straw-yellow color and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose reveals vibrant aromas of lemon and verbena, complemented by a subtle touch of vanilla from the time spent in wood. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and smooth, guided by evident minerality towards a dry, linear finish that embodies the Extra Brut style.

Food pairings

With its precise taste, this Champagne is ideal for pairing with shellfish dishes and is especially recommended with lobster or lobster à l'armoricaine. It also harmoniously matches oysters and fish carpaccio, highlighting the purity of the ingredients. Its saline note and dry finish make it an excellent match for seafood risotto as well.

When to serve it

Its structure makes it suited to accompany every course of a seafood meal. It should be served well chilled to enhance its aromatic precision and elegant effervescence. Thanks to the extended aging in bottle, it boasts a stable balance that allows immediate enjoyment or cellaring to appreciate its natural evolution over time.
