Description
What kind of wine is it
Pol Roger’s Champagne Extra Brut Pure expresses the balance and elegance of the Maison in Épernay. It is created from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier from 30 selected Crus, embodying a fresh and structured style. The Traditional Method, with fermentation in the bottle and aging on the lees, delivers complexity and depth, while the extremely fine perlage accentuates its lively personality.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from 30 Crus located in the three main Champagne areas: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs.
How is it produced
After gentle pressing, each variety ferments separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The base wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and rests for several months on the lees before blending. The second fermentation occurs in the bottle following the Traditional Method, followed by a minimum aging of 48 months on the lees, which brings depth and finesse.
Tasting notes
It displays a brilliant golden yellow color in the glass, with a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet features white flowers, fresh citrus, and bread crust, complemented by toasted almond and delicate spice notes. On the palate, it is vibrant and dry, with pronounced saltiness and a perfect balance between freshness and body. The finish is long, with citrus echoes and a subtle mineral texture highlighting its finesse.
Best food pairings
Champagne Extra Brut Pure by Pol Roger pairs beautifully with fresh oysters and sushi, with its perlage enhancing the iodized notes and palate-cleansing effect. It works well with smoked salmon carpaccio or shellfish tartare, creating a contrast between creaminess and acidity. In French cuisine, it goes with baked Coquilles Saint-Jacques, while in Italian tradition, it is perfect with linguine with clams, enhancing the savory quality of seafood dishes.
When to serve
Ideal as an aperitif or for convivial occasions, it can be kept in the cellar and enjoyed within a few years of disgorgement. It reveals citrus and floral notes, with a robust acid-mineral backbone that evolves over time, offering a balanced tasting experience.
