Description
This Chianti Classico is the most historic wine of the Viticcio winery, produced in Greve in Chianti from Sangiovese grapes with a small addition of Merlot. The vineyards, cultivated between 230 and 400 meters above sea level, are located on clay soils rich in alberese and colombino stones and benefit from southern, southwestern, northern, and southern exposures.
The vinification process involves alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at 26-30°C and a 15-day maceration. After malolactic fermentation, also carried out in steel, the wine ages for 12 months in barriques, followed by another 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Brilliant ruby red in the glass. The nose is complex, with hints of red fruits, plum, and violet, accompanied by notes of blond tobacco, graphite, damp undergrowth, and toasted nuances. The palate is fresh, with elegant and balanced tannins, closing with a long finish on notes of bitter cocoa and toasting.
Ideal paired with grilled red meats, ragù pasta dishes, and aged cheeses.
