Description
What kind of wine is it
Chianti Rùfina Riserva Nipozzano by Frescobaldi is a red wine with a structured and harmonious profile, made primarily from Sangiovese with additions of Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its style is marked by balanced freshness and full body, thanks to fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and extended maceration. Aging in second- and third-use barriques for 24 months develops supple tannins and aromatic complexity with aging potential.
Where does it come from
The wine is produced from the vineyards of Castello di Nipozzano, in the hilly heart of Chianti Rùfina, northeast of Florence.
How is it made
Grapes are hand-harvested between late September and early October into crates that preserve the integrity of the bunches. Each variety is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with extended maceration and frequent pump-overs. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 24 months in second- and third-use barriques. A further minimum of 3 months in bottle completes its maturation.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red color with purple highlights. The nose reveals ripe red fruits such as black cherry and morello cherry, with forest floor, violet, and hints of licorice. On the palate, it displays a well-integrated tannic structure, vibrant freshness, and a long finish with nuances of spirit-soaked fruit, cloves, and nutmeg.
Food pairings
Its structure and freshness make it a great match for grilled red meats, roasts (especially lamb), and younger cheeses.
Serving occasions
Perfect both for social gatherings and more contemplative tasting moments.
