Description
What kind of wine is it
Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona by Francesco Iandolo is a Piedmontese white wine made from Timorasso grapes. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks and the wine is then aged for 12 months on the lees: this process creates a vibrant and enveloping sip, with medium body and good persistence.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from the Ca' dell’Aglio vineyard, located in the municipality of Brignano-Frascata, in the Colli Tortonesi area of Piedmont. The vineyard sits at an altitude of 350m a.s.l., in a zone linked to the Derthona designation, a local reference point for Timorasso.
How is it produced
The Timorasso grapes are hand-harvested in the second half of September. After picking, the grapes are gently pressed, then clarified and fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Ageing takes place for 12 months on the lees, also in steel.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow hue with golden reflections. On the nose, it reveals notes of pineapple and lemon, with hints of flint and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is energetic and enveloping, with a medium body and a persistence that prolongs the finish.
Food pairings
It pairs effortlessly with spaghetti allo scoglio and roasted fish, accompanying savoury dishes with balance. It is also suitable for legume soups and fried white meats.
When to serve it
This is a white wine ideal for lunches and dinners centred around seafood, legumes, and fried foods. The steel vinification and lees-ageing contribute to the character of the wine and maintain its consistency, making it particularly enjoyable when you’re looking for energy, medium body, and good persistence.
