Description

What type of wine is it?

Franciacorta Nature Blanc de Blancs by Berlucchi is made from Chardonnay grapes grown in Lombardy. Crafted following the principles of the Traditional Method, it stands out for an essential and balanced style, defined by remarkable tasting precision. The winemaking process foresees that a portion of the base wines rests in barrique before blending and re-fermentation in the bottle. An extended aging on the lees for over five years gives the wine notable structural complexity and introduces natural, refined, evolved notes.

Where does it come from?

This wine comes to life in Lombardy, within the renowned Franciacorta area, and is born from a rigorous selection of grapes from various parcels of Berlucchi's estate. This mosaic of vineyards makes it possible to obtain lots with complementary characteristics, essential to create the perfect stylistic balance. The variety of soils enhances the many nuances of Chardonnay to ensure a defined and clean expression. The identity of the territory clearly emerges through an aromatic finesse that enhances the linearity of each sip.

How is it produced?

After a careful harvest, the best portion of the grapes ferments in steel to preserve the clarity and precision of the aromas. Next, part of the base wines matures on the lees in barrique for about six months, adding structure to the wine’s profile. After assembling the blend from the different lots, the second fermentation takes place in the bottle following the rules of the Traditional Method. This is followed by a long rest on the lees, exceeding five years, a fundamental stage for developing evolved notes and providing a long progression on the palate.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow color, enriched by bright golden reflections. The nose reveals aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits, and ripe white-fleshed fruit, accompanied by a distinct brioche nuance imparted by extended contact with the lees. On the palate, it is harmonious and smooth, with a long sequence that maintains a pleasant tension. The finish is clean and opens up to a refreshing finale with a persistent finish reminiscent of citrus and pastry notes.

Food pairings

Thanks to its structured profile, it is an ideal choice to accompany the entire meal without overpowering the dishes. It pairs well with tasty appetizers, fish main courses, white meats, and medium-aged cheeses, as it balances well-seasoned preparations. For a local-inspired pairing, it enhances perch risotto, where its freshness refreshes the palate and matches the dish’s delicacy. It is equally suitable with baked trout with herbs, maintaining balance between the yeasty notes and the vibrant finish.

When to serve it

This label is ideal for those seeking a precise, essential Traditional Method wine, perfect for a complete lunch or a refined dinner. Its freshness and elegant tasting profile make it enjoyable on every occasion when you desire a wine with a dry, linear style. The long aging on the lees allows for immediate tasting, letting one appreciate its aromatic definition, yet ensures a solid aging potential. At the time of serving, it shows an impressive overall precision.
