Description

What type of wine is it

Sito Moresco by Gaja is a red wine from the Langhe, produced in the Barbaresco area from Nebbiolo, with the addition of Barbera and Merlot. It is designed to offer immediate drinkability, with clear fruit, fine tannins, and a well-balanced freshness and softness. The winemaking process involves fermentation with skin maceration, followed by maturation in oak and then a period in the bottle for a rich yet smooth profile.

Where it comes from

It originates in Piedmont, in the Langhe, in the Barbaresco area, a territory historically linked to Nebbiolo-based reds. Here the wine's identity derives from the varietal character and the integration of other grapes, which bring vitality and roundness. The origin in one of the most renowned areas of the Langhe is reflected in a precise style, with ripe fruit, balanced tannic structure, and a finish that is fresh and savoury.

How it is produced

After harvesting, the grapes are fermented with skin maceration, a step that promotes the extraction of colour, aromas, and structure. Once fermentation is complete, the wine matures for about a year in oak barrels to harmonize its components and refine its texture. The process is completed by several months of bottle aging, improving balance and clarity of taste before release to the market.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color, compact in appearance. The aroma is dominated by ripe red fruit, with hints of cherry and blackberry, shades of black cherry, and floral and spicy notes. On the palate, the sip is pleasantly rich, driven by crisp, expressive fruit and fine tannins that have already evolved. The finish remains fresh and savoury, with a clean closure inviting another sip.

Pairings

At the table, it accompanies flavorful first courses and roast white meats, supporting succulence without heaviness. It pairs well with dishes where fruit and freshness add vibrancy, thanks to a measured tannic structure and a fresh, savoury finish that keeps the meal lively.

When to serve it

It is ideal when you are looking for a red from the Langhe with immediate appeal, suitable to accompany a full meal without losing precision. Maturation in oak and months of bottle aging as provided by the producer allow it to be enjoyed when fruit, tannin, and freshness are well integrated. It is perfect for convivial occasions and at the table, when balance and smoothness are called for.
