Description
What kind of wine is it
Loiben Riesling by Pichler Krutzler is an Austrian white wine made from Riesling grapes. Grown along the banks of the Danube River, these grapes give rise to a profile that expresses freshness and clarity. Vinification in steel preserves the varietal aromatic integrity, while aging on fine lees offers a measured structure. It stands out for a light style and remarkable aromatic precision, ensuring a smooth tasting experience with a clear sense of place.
Where it comes from
This white is born in Austria, more precisely in the renowned Wachau region, within the wine area of Loiben. The vineyards cover thirteen hectares in close proximity to the Danube, a natural element that positively influences the local microclimate and guarantees optimal vine development. The Pichler Krutzler winery, founded in 2007 by Elisabeth and Erich, manages these parcels with great attention to the area's calling. The river's influence is reflected in the glass and contributes to the typical expressive freshness of this zone.
How it is produced
Production starts in September with the manual harvest of Riesling grapes, carefully selected directly in the vineyards. In the winery, the must ferments in steel vats, a choice that maintains strict aromatic purity and prevents oxidative changes. Afterwards, the wine rests for four to five months in contact with its own yeasts. This prolonged aging on the lees gently enriches the taste texture and stabilizes the wine's profile, maintaining its vibrant character intact.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow hue, embellished by lively greenish reflections that hint at its youth. The nose opens with delicate floral notes, followed by fragrant hints of white fruit and suggestions of yellow fruit. On the palate, it is particularly light and smooth, guided by a pleasant acidity that gives rhythm and tension to the sip. The tasting ends with a persistent finish in harmony with the aromas perceived on the nose.
Food pairings
Its distinctive freshness and subtle structure make it the perfect match for seafood dishes. It excels alongside raw fish tartare, where it balances the subtle sweetness of the main ingredient. It is also highly effective with selections of shellfish and seafood, enhancing their briny flavors without overwhelming them. Finally, pairing with delicately cooked white meats is an equally valid and balanced option.
When to serve it
This is the label for times when you want a crisp, essential white with easy drinkability. Perfect for starting a meal or accompanying entire fish-based dinners, it offers a dynamic experience that never tires the palate. Its light style makes it especially enjoyable during casual get-togethers or summer lunches. Thanks to its clean finish, it ensures a pleasant continuity, refreshing the mouth while preparing the palate for the next bite.
