Description
Montecucco Rosso di Sassetti is born in Maremma from 100% Sangiovese grapes, on calcareous soils rich in clay. The grapes are harvested by hand in late September.
The fermentation of the grapes takes place in steel at a controlled temperature. After that the wine is further refined first 6 months in oak barrels, then another 6 months in the bottle.
The wine is a deep ruby red, with purple reflections. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and licorice, while in the mouth the round sip reveals silky tannins and a long, pleasant persistence.
It is drunk in combination with savory first courses and second courses of red meats or stewed game, from Acquacotta di Moggiona to Scottiglia Maremma.
