Description
What kind of wine is it
Monthélie 1er Cru “Les Clous” Pierrick Bouley is a still red wine made from Pinot Noir and produced in Monthélie, Burgundy. It comes from a 0.60-hectare parcel and offers a profile focused on pure fruit, silky texture and persistence, with a measured complexity deriving from barrique aging.
Where does it come from
Its origin is Monthélie, with a 1er Cru classification in the “Les Clous” vineyard. The parcel, exposed to the south-southeast, lies on marl and stony limestone, a combination that supports aromatic definition and fine tannins. The small size of the vineyard contributes to a precise expression of the terroir.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-harvested with careful selection. Vinification begins without added sulfites to preserve fresh fruit aromas; fermentation starts quickly and is monitored for density and temperature. After pressing, the must settles and is moved into tanks for the start of alcoholic fermentation. The wine matures in barrique for several months and is stabilized before bottling.
Tasting notes
On the nose, there are well-defined fresh fruit aromas, with delicate spices coming from barrique maturation. On the palate, the texture is silky, with a balanced interplay of acidity and tannins; the finish is long and consistent with the style of the cru.
Food pairings
Thanks to its structure and complexity, it pairs well with red meats, game, and aged cheeses, where its freshness and tannic structure support texture and savoriness. Its finesse also makes it suitable for more refined cuisine, when you seek precision and continuity between dish and wine.
When to serve it
Recommended when looking for a precise red wine that combines fruit, balance, and nuances from barrique aging. Thanks to its structure, it can be enjoyed immediately or left to evolve to highlight spicy notes and its tannic weave. It maintains good aging potential if stored in stable conditions.
