Description
This Morellino di Scansano is an intense and Mediterranean red wine produced by Viticcio in the Poggio la Mozza area, in Magliano in Toscana. The Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes come from vineyards situated at 150 meters above sea level, facing north and north-east, on sandy and sandy-loam soils rich in sandstone. The vines are between 7 and 17 years old.
Vinification involves alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 28-30°C, with a 10-day maceration. After malolactic fermentation in steel, the wine ages for 12 months in barriques and a further 3-5 months in steel.
It displays a brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, it offers aromas of red fruits, plum and violet, with hints of blond tobacco, graphite, underbrush and toasted notes. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with elegant tannins and a long finish characterized by toasted tones and bitter cocoa.
Perfect paired with roasts, mixed grills or dishes from the Maremma tradition.
