Description
What kind of wine it is
Langhe Nebbiolo Occhetti Prunotto is a red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the Langhe region. The winemaking process involves fermentation with maceration and a subsequent aging in wood, which help create a full and harmonious profile. Its style combines freshness and aromatic precision with a smooth palate, offering a balanced tasting experience and a persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This Nebbiolo is produced at the Prunotto estate, located in the heart of the Langhe in an area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The appellation identifies a Piedmontese area highly suited to viticulture, where the vineyards are an integral part of the agricultural landscape. Its origins add a consistent territorial character, delivering a measured-structure red conceived to express the local uniqueness.
How it is produced
The grapes are handpicked and carefully selected in the early days of October. Fermentation takes place with maceration at a maximum controlled temperature of 29°C for about ten days, a process that enables precise extraction of color and aromatic components. After completing malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for twelve months in barrels of different sizes and rests for a further four months in bottle prior to release, thus gaining greater complexity.
Tasting notes
Visually, it appears as a ruby red with garnet highlights. Bright floral aromas stand out on the nose, with pronounced hints of raspberries and rose, followed by delicate notes of licorice that add definition to the bouquet. On the palate, it starts full and tastes smooth and harmonious, underpinned by excellent balance. The finish is long, marked by a persistent aftertaste that faithfully echoes the olfactory sensations.
Food pairings
This red is ideal for pairing with warm appetizers, hearty pasta dishes, and meat-based recipes, thanks to a full flavor profile that stands up to rich textures and intense flavors. In the kitchen, it is a natural match for traditional Piedmontese dishes with savory sauces, enhancing the wine's harmony. It is also perfect with simply prepared meat main courses, where the aromatic elements keep the palate fresh and clean.
When to serve it
It shines on a variety of social occasions and pleasantly accompanies the whole meal, from the beginning to the main course. Its careful aging in barrels makes it perfect for uncorking when you want to share a versatile red with a well-defined character, able to complement a complete menu without ever overwhelming the palate. Properly served, it best expresses its harmony for a gratifying and ongoing tasting experience.
