Description
What kind of wine is it
The Nuragus di Cagliari from the Ondas range by Cantina Santadi is a still white wine made entirely from Nuragus grapes. It shows a straw-yellow color tending to gold and a supple, well-bodied style, crafted for enjoyable, versatile drinking. The Nuragus di Cagliari designation underscores its direct link to the grape variety.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in the vineyards of Lower Sulcis, in Sardinia, within the production area of the Nuragus di Cagliari denomination. It is produced by Cantina Santadi as part of the Ondas line. The Sulcis terroir imparts the wine's varietal and geographic identity.
How it is made
The Nuragus grapes are harvested and gently pressed to preserve their aromatic delicacy. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperature, a choice that maintains freshness and precision in the wine's profile. This is followed by a few months of maturation in steel tanks, on its lees, enriching structure and suppleness on the palate.
Tasting notes
The color is straw yellow with golden highlights. On the nose, notes of yellow fruit appear, accompanied by buttery nuances that recall lees aging. The palate is delicate yet well-bodied, with a pleasing softness that defines its character.
Food pairings
This Nuragus di Cagliari is ideal with pasta dishes with bottarga, where the dish’s savoriness finds balance in the wine’s softness. It also pairs well with soft cheeses, which enhance its buttery component. A versatile choice for seafood lunches and for Sardinian cuisine in general.
When to serve it
It is a white wine suited to lunch or convivial occasions that call for characterful food pairings. Serve chilled, at around 10–12°C, to highlight body and softness without muting the aromas. Also a fitting choice to start a seafood meal.
