Description

What kind of wine it is

Granja Remelluri is a structured and enveloping red wine from Rioja. It is made from a blend of Tempranillo, enhanced with Garnacha, Graciano and other local black grape varieties. Its identity is shaped by a long maturation period in wood, resulting in a robust and harmonious profile, marked by well-integrated tannins and deep complexity on the palate.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the renowned Labastida in Álava and San Vicente de la Sonsierra, both historic areas of the Rioja appellation. This esteemed geographic origin allows the Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano vines to express precision and depth. The vineyards benefit from ideal conditions, giving the Gran Reserva an authentic connection to its land and a clearly defined territorial identity.

How it is produced

Grapes are carefully hand-harvested. In the cellar, the must undergoes spontaneous fermentation thanks to the action of native yeasts in open wooden vats. Afterwards, the wine matures for 28 months in barrels of various sizes—a slow process that stabilizes its structure, smooths the tannins, and enhances the final texture.

Tasting notes

It displays a deep ruby red color in the glass. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruits stand out, accompanied by sweet spices and a subtle toasted background. On the palate, the wine is robust and harmonious, supported by well-integrated tannins that lead to a long, persistent finish, reflecting the complexity gained from barrel aging.

Food pairings

This structured red pairs perfectly with roast red meats and lamb dishes, where the tannins find the right counterpart. The spicy notes and delicate toasted undertones are ideal for long-cooked and intensely flavored dishes. At the end of the meal, it shines alongside a selection of aged cheeses, creating a satisfying palate balance.

When to serve it

It is the ideal choice to accompany convivial lunches and dinners focused on important meat courses. Its structured character and enveloping texture make it perfect for occasions when you want to serve a wine with a robust and harmonious profile that can stand up to the entire meal. Thanks to its long aging in wood, it shows its best during moments dedicated to a wine of depth.
