Description
What type of wine it is
Fincas de Ganuza by Remírez de Ganuza is a red wine from Rioja, made from a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano. This wine displays a precise and defined profile thanks to prolonged maturation that brings vivid complexity on the palate. The balance between its deep structure and well-integrated tannins outlines a solid style while ensuring a pleasant continuity on the palate.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from parcels at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria, an area that has a direct influence on the wine’s character and overall style. The vines used for production are between 25 and 40 years old, a factor that affects the density and natural concentration of the berries. The unique viticultural environment of this particular area of Rioja grants the fruit a solid foundation to build the wine's structure.
How it is produced
The process starts with meticulous manual harvesting in crates, followed by cooling of the bunches in refrigerated rooms. A careful selection then isolates only the best parts, called hombros, which are destemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats. Maturation continues for twenty-five months in French oak barriques, split equally between new and second-use wood.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a deep and compact ruby red hue. The aromatic profile opens with clear notes of ripe red fruits and sweet spices, alongside toasted hints of vanilla and wood. On the palate, it is balanced, upheld by velvety tannins that lead to a long, persistent finish, with clear returns of cocoa and tobacco perfectly integrated into the overall taste.
Food pairings
This red wine naturally accompanies full-flavored dishes and pairs excellently with red meat dishes. Its fine tannic texture and aromatic richness make it suitable for pairing with roasts, whose browning echoes the spicy notes from oak maturation. It is also ideal for enhancing aged cheeses, where the lingering flavors of cocoa and tobacco balance the pronounced savoriness of long aging.
When to serve it
Opening this label is perfect for accompanying a structured meal, thanks to its texture that maintains a lasting progression of flavors. Its maturation period makes it fit for occasions where a complex aromatic profile is sought, marked by clear notes of fruit and wood. It is suited both to complete the table and for a dedicated tasting focused on appreciating the evolution of spicy and toasted notes.
