Description
What kind of wine it is
Rosso di Montalcino by Cecchi is a red wine produced in the Tuscan town of the same name, made from Sangiovese grapes. It displays a balanced and harmonious style, outlining an elegant and persistent profile. The vinification follows the traditional red method, with controlled temperature at 28°C and a careful maceration on the skins. The process is completed by aging in barriques and a subsequent rest in bottle, thoroughly enriching its gustatory character.
Where it comes from
The designation Rosso di Montalcino is produced entirely in the territory of Montalcino, in Tuscany, a pivotal area for regional viticulture. The vineyards dedicated to this wine grow on medium-textured soils, considered particularly favourable for the optimal growth of the vine. The specific characteristics of the soil contribute to a marked aromatic definition, supporting the development of an orderly tannic structure and giving the sip a measured taste profile.
How it is produced
After a careful harvest, the Sangiovese grapes undergo a red vinification at controlled temperature. The process foresees fifteen days of fermentation and maceration, a central phase to extract colour and structural compounds with balance. Afterwards, the wine matures for six months in barriques, with a limited percentage of new oak, and refines for at least another six months in the bottle. This double resting stage is essential to ensure the maximum harmony of flavours and proper integration of aromas.
Tasting notes
At serving, it stands out for its clear and inviting ruby-red colour. The bouquet is delicate yet intensely aromatic, offering clean and well-delineated scents. On the palate, it delivers a pleasant and harmonious sip, where structure is expertly balanced with excellent drinkability. The tasting ends with a good final persistence that confirms a refined and well-balanced sensory profile in every component.
Pairings
The balanced composition of this wine makes it ideal alongside flavourful red meat dishes. Its persistency on the palate effortlessly supports richly flavoured courses, including roasts served at the table. It is also an excellent choice when paired with white meats, where it avoids any overpowering contrast, or with aged cheeses, whose pronounced notes perfectly complement the aromatic intensity in the glass.
When to serve it
This Tuscan wine is versatile in various situations, ranging smoothly from daily meals to special dinners. It is recommended to let it breathe briefly before serving to enable the full expression of its aromatic bouquet and enhance its texture on the palate. Owing to proper aging before distribution, it stands as a reliable companion. Uncorking a bottle adds an extra dimension to the shared moment, offering a defined and pleasant tasting experience for all guests.
