Saint-Estèphe AOC 2014 Château Cos d'Estournel
Description
Château Cos d'Estournel was born in vineyards located in the heart of the AOC Saint-Estèphe, in the renowned wine-growing area of Bordeaux. This wine was designated among the Deuxièmes Crus, in the famous Classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855, immediately after the best wines in the world, for quality.
It is mainly produced with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, carefully picked and selected by hand. Upon entering the cellar, the bunches go through a refrigerated tunnel in order to slow down oxidation; subsequently the grapes macerate at a temperature of 7-9 ° C for about 7 days. The must is transferred to steel tanks exclusively by gravity and fermentation takes place at low temperatures, so as not to extract the harsher tannins. Subsequently the wine ages for a long time in almost entirely new French oak barrels, before being bottled.
Château Cos d'Estournel has a bright and intense ruby red color. The nose opens with intense aromas of ripe cherry, blueberry and cassis, enriched with elegant hints of licorice, chocolate and coffee. On the palate it is concentrated and powerful, medium-bodied, with round tannins and a hint of incense characteristic and unique among Bordeaux wines.
Perfect to accompany red meats, game and noble poultry, this Bordeaux wine is ideal in combination with Asian dishes, tuna and mushroom dishes.
