Description
What kind of wine is it
Sicilia Lumera Donnafugata is a rosé wine from southwestern Sicily, made from a blend of Nero d’Avola, Syrah, Tannat, and Pinot Noir. The winemaking process involves a short cold maceration and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, preserving a fresh and easy-drinking profile. On the palate, it offers good softness and ends with a savory, well-balanced finish; aging in glass for at least two months completes its clean and immediate style, making it suitable for meals as well.
Origin
Lumera by Donnafugata is produced in the vineyards of the Tenuta di Contessa Entellina, in the heart of southwestern Sicily. Its inland origin provides a distinctive territorial identity, guiding the wine toward a clear expression of fruit and a marked sapidity on the finish. The reference to Tenuta di Contessa Entellina ties the rosé to a specific setting, coherent with its clear and direct style.
How it is produced
The Nero d’Avola, Syrah, Tannat, and Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested between August and September. After a brief cold maceration, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, a choice that ensures cleanliness and aromatic precision. After fermentation, the wine rests in glass for at least two months to stabilize and refine its balance before release.
Tasting notes
Appears a pale pink to the eye. The nose is broad and intense, recalling pomegranate, currant, and wild strawberries. On the palate, it offers good freshness and softness, with a smooth progression. The finish is savory and balanced, with a clean close that invites another sip.
Food pairing
At the table, it naturally pairs with seafood appetizers and fish crudités thanks to its freshness and sapidity that respect the delicacy of these dishes. It is also recommended with fresh cheeses, where its softness helps balance the lactic component without overpowering their aromas.
When to serve it
This rosé is ideal for convivial moments or meals based on seafood cuisine, when a fresh and well-balanced sip is desired. It is best enjoyed well chilled to highlight its pomegranate and berry aromas and its savory finish. Its smoothness makes it suitable both as an aperitif and throughout the meal with light dishes.
