Description

The Mordese is a Tuscan wine from the young winery Vallepicciola, located in the Pievasciata area, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where it manages 105 hectares of vineyards following the principles of sustainable agriculture. The Cabernet Franc vines are situated at 350-400 m a.s.l.

The wine is a pure Cabernet Franc, harvested in early September. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 20-25 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in French oak barriques (50% new), where the wine then ages for 12 months. Bottle ageing lasts 8-10 months.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red colour. The nose opens with aromas of plum, with balsamic and spicy notes. The palate is warm and structured, with fine, silky tannins.

Ideal with generous platters of cured meats and cheeses, flavourful pasta dishes, and roasted and grilled meats.
