Coastal Region Chenin Blanc WO 21 Gables 2019 Spier

With its foundation in 1962, the Spier company ranks among the oldest companies in South Africa located in the Stellenbosch area, one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in South Africa.

The Chenin Blanc grapes are harvested manually from three vineyard plots, inhabited by 40-year-old vines. The short distance from the sea allows the development of the particular flavor that characterizes this wine. Once brought to the cellar, the grapes are de-stemmed, left to macerate for a few hours and then pressed. Alcoholic fermentation follows in wooden barrels and an aging of about 14 months in 45% new barrels.

In the glass the wine is straw yellow in color. The olfactory profile is outlined on aromas of dried apricot, peach, citrus, almond, with a spicy finish reminiscent of vanilla. In the mouth the wine is savory, consistent and intense in its aromatic expression.

To be paired with chicken with almonds and risotto.
