Description
What kind of wine is it
Fojaneghe is a red wine from Conti Bossi Fedrigotti, belonging to the Vigneti delle Dolomiti denomination. It comes from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Teroldego grapes, combining a Bordeaux-inspired approach with a deep Trentino identity. Characterized by a dry and balanced style, it stands out for its elegant structure and enveloping finish, which is a clear expression of its territory.
Where does it come from
It originates in the historic Cru Fojaneghe, located in Rovereto in the province of Trento. The vineyards are set within the mountain landscape that defines the Vigneti delle Dolomiti, an area devoted to quality viticulture. This label is a key milestone in the country’s winemaking history, being recognized as the first Bordeaux blend produced in Italy by the Conti Bossi Fedrigotti estate.
How is it produced
Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Teroldego grapes are hand-picked and selected. Vinification starts with fermentation in stainless steel and a skin maceration lasting twenty-five days at controlled temperature, to extract color and aromas. The wine is then aged for eighteen months in French oak barriques, a crucial step to define its balance and longevity.
Tasting notes
In the glass it exhibits a ruby red color with bright garnet highlights. The nose opens with clear and intense aromas of wild berries, harmoniously integrated with vanilla nuances from barrel aging. On the palate, it is dry and well-balanced, offering a taste experience with a seamless texture that culminates in a velvety and persistent finish.
Pairings
Its complex texture makes it ideal for pairing with red meats and structured game dishes. It also goes very well with aged and spicy cheeses, which can support its persistence. At the table it pairs naturally with a flavorful braised dish, while for a regional touch, it is perfectly served with cervo in salmì and polenta.
When to serve
This red is suitable for convivial moments, especially to enhance menus with intense flavors. Thanks to extended barrel aging, it boasts strong potential for bottle ageing, which makes it ideal for a patient rest in the cellar. Nevertheless, it can be enjoyed right away to appreciate its immediate elegance and palate-cleansing qualities during a formal dinner.
