Description
What type of wine is it
Lausos by Can Rich is a full-bodied red wine, born from the blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Classified as Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza, it displays an elegant and deep profile, marked by clear aging potential. The winemaking process ends with maturation in French oak barriques, which enhances its complexity. Its full and precise style promises a rich tasting experience, sustained by well-crafted tannins.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from the Buscastell estate, located on the island of Ibiza, falling under the Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza designation. The vineyards are rooted in well-drained limestone soils, an agricultural condition that favors the ideal balance between concentration and taste definition. The region’s Mediterranean climate supports fully ripened and consistent harvests, giving the wine a robust structure and pronounced aromatic intensity with a lingering finish on the palate.
How is it produced
Production starts from a careful vinification of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, aimed at extracting finesse and elegance. After fermentation, the wine matures for twelve months in French oak barriques, a crucial phase for consolidating its tannic framework. This period integrates the blend with evolving nuances and results in a well-defined technical profile where fruit harmoniously meets toasted notes.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby hue, consistent with its strong structural framework. The nose reveals a layered profile, with standout aromas of ripe dark berries, graphite, cocoa, and tobacco, finely intertwined with sandalwood nuances. On the palate, it is silky and broad, supported by a persistent taste progression and polished tannins. The long, tidy finish recalls the dark, spicy impressions sensed on the nose, confirming its harmony.
Pairings
This red wine naturally complements robust red meats, game dishes, and aged cheeses, fully enhancing the lingering sip. The meticulously managed tannic structure makes it an ideal partner for flavorful dishes and long-cooked preparations, able to match both intensity and succulence. Locally, it pairs beautifully with the typical sofrit pagès, rich and aromatic, but is equally effective with savory Spanish roasts.
When to serve
Lausos is the right choice when seeking a bold bottle for important convivial moments. The barrique aging and notable evolutionary potential make it perfect for long cellaring, allowing one to observe its flavor development over time. It can be enjoyed now for its silky texture, or kept in the cellar to achieve superior integration between the fruit and the aged notes.
