Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Second Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, in the Médoc, in the southern part of the appellation. Its vineyard extends over 102 hectares divided into more than 100 plots, on poor, well-draining soils of gravel over clay, the result of the slow retreat of the waters during the Quaternary.
Each grape variety finds its ideal terroir here: Cabernet Sauvignon, the king of the Médoc, on gravel mounds and the steeper slopes; Merlot on sandy and gravelly soils with a clay subsoil; Cabernet Franc halfway up the slope, on clays covered by a thin layer of gravel; Petit Verdot in the lower sandy-gravelly areas.
Since 2010, a restructuring of the vineyard has been underway with the aim of reducing environmental impact, and in 2021 the conversion of the entire estate to organic farming was initiated. The proximity to the estuary also protects the vines from spring frosts.
"Wine is culture": with this spirit Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande interprets the great terroir of Pauillac with elegance and precision.
