Emidio Pepe
One of the best known names in Abruzzo is that of Emidio Pepe, who took over from his ancestors who were already winegrowers and opened his company in 1964 in Torano Nuovo, in the province of Teramo. There are only 15 hectares of vines of the company, but each of these is maniacally preserved and cultivated to produce wines of superior quality, in the strictly indigenous varieties of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Pecorino.
Emidio Pepe cultivates his vines in a sustainable and biodynamic way, using only natural products such as copper crystals, mine sulfur and other preparations. In an uncontaminated terroir like that of Torano Nuovo, characterized by the combination of the currents coming from the sea and the colder ones of the Gran Sasso, natural wines are born deeply linked to the Abruzzo territory, which know how to combine the decisive character of its terroir and grapes with a truly refined finesse and softness. Pepe's wines are by now internationally recognized and discussed, produced by a skilled artisan hand and synonymous with absolute authenticity and refinement.
