Mastrojanni
Mastrojanni is a wine-making reality born when in 1975 Gabriele Mastrojanni, a Roman lawyer, decided to buy the San Pio and Loreto estates in the heart of Montalcino. In a period of prehistory for Brunello and in an extremely poor and agricultural territory, Gabriele chooses to focus on viticulture, planting vineyards on the land of his estates. The variety was obviously Sangiovese. Relying on the oenologist Maurizio Castelli, who still manages the company today, Mastrojanni soon becomes a reference point in Montalcino following the rules of extreme attention in the vineyard and in the cellar, from the rigorous selection of the bunch at the right ripeness, to the immediate vinification in cellar, which takes place in both concrete and wood. Today the winery has been taken over by the Illy group, which continues in the sign of Gabriele a production of excellent quality of Brunello, meeting the success and appreciation of enthusiasts and experts from all over the world.
