Nerello Mascalese
Nerello mascalese is a red grape variety widespread above all on Etna, it can also be found throughout north-eastern Sicily and along the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria. It is a grape with noble characteristics, still today it is often cultivated ungrafted on soils of volcanic sands, according to the old Greek sapling system. In purity it gives refined and elegant wines, characterized by floral aromas, aromas of small berries and spices. The tannic texture is fine and the freshness is lively.
Etna DOC Rosso Cuordilava 2020 Donnafugata
Cuordilava Donnafugata was born on the northern slope of Etna, in Randazzo and Castiglione di Sicilia. It is part of the Dolce&Gabbana and Donnafugata collection, a partnership between two ambassadors of Made in Italy.
The wine is produced with 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes. The grapes are vinified in thermo-controlled steel tanks with a maceration on the skins for 10-12 days. The wine obtained is aged for over 12 months in French oak barrels and for at least 24 months in the bottle.
