Alsace vs. South Tyrol
Gewürztraminer & Riesling in comparison
The magical Christmas atmosphere is about to invade their streets, but the Central European tradition of the Christmas markets is not the only thing shared by Alsace and South Tyrol. Both regions are highly suited to the production of great white wines , in particular from Gewurztraminer , of which one claims paternity, while the other is considered the land of choice, with its "Grand Cru" vineyards.
Another protagonist of the Alsatian wine scene is Riesling , a grape variety that prefers the cold climate and steep slopes and which in South Tyrol has found is best expressed in the Isarco Valley.
