Description

What kind of wine is it

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico by Domini Veneti is a red wine made from grapes of the Valpolicella Classica region. The process is based on hand harvesting followed by a slow drying of the grapes in a fruit loft. This technique concentrates the aromas and gives the wine its typical rich character. The use of large barrels creates a full structure that results in a soft and well-balanced wine.

Where does it come from

The grapes come from vineyards in the Valpolicella Classica area, set on traditional dry stone terraces. The vines grow at altitudes between one hundred and fifty and four hundred and fifty meters above sea level, an exposure that favors the development of the grape clusters. The silty-clay soils provide proper water supply to the vines and endow the must with a wealth of polyphenols. This hilly environment is crucial because it ensures balance and concentration in the final product.

How is it produced

The grape bunches are hand-selected between September and October, then rest in the fruit loft until January. Once the drying period is over, the must undergoes thirty days of maceration on the skins with temperature-controlled fermentation and precise punch-downs. Malolactic fermentation introduces the maturation phase, which takes place in Slavonian oak barrels for twenty-four months. A subsequent bottle ageing of at least six months completes the process before tasting.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays a deep intense ruby red color complemented by clear garnet hues. The nose reveals distinct aromas of maraschino cherries and dried plums, interwoven with hints of dark spices. The first sip shows a dense and enveloping volume, supported by a weave of polished tannins. The taste stands out for its full body and a harmonious finish that offers a consistent and lingering aftertaste.

Food pairings

This wine is ideal with hearty main courses based on meat, supporting the structure of the most intense dishes. It pairs well with grilled meats and slow-cooked braised dishes, providing a strong contrast of flavors. The warm notes and tannic character enhance game and cleanse the palate with every sip. It is also suitable for serving with boards of aged cheeses to extend their bold flavors.

When to serve it

The elegance of this Amarone makes it an excellent choice for formal occasions or to accompany dinners with elaborate menus. Careful barrel aging offers an already harmonious and balanced flavor profile. Its deep and multifaceted character suggests a meditative enjoyment, allowing the various aromatic components to evolve in the glass. It offers a gratifying tasting experience in which the balance between structure and smoothness finds its full expression.
