Description

What kind of wine it is

Barolo Riserva Negretti is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the Bricco Ambrogio cru in Roddi and Bettolotti cru in La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo area. Maceration on the skins in stainless steel and long ageing in large Austrian oak barrels shape a structured and complex style that offers freshness and well-integrated tannins, with a natural propensity to evolve.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the hills of Roddi and La Morra, with vineyards located between 230 and 270 meters in altitude and southeast exposure. The marly, clay, and sandy soils contribute to a defined structure and precise tannic framework, supporting a clear profile and good ageing capacity, perfectly in line with the Barolo terroir.

How it is produced

Vinification involves fermentation on the skins for 25–30 days in stainless steel at controlled temperature, followed by a spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Ageing continues for 36 months in large Austrian oak barrels, allowing the tannic structure to evolve slowly and the wood to impart subtle notes, retaining precision and freshness.

Tasting notes

The nose reveals intense aromas of dog rose, vanilla, and sweet liquorice. The palate is broad and concentrated, with evident structure and well-integrated tannins; freshness supports overall balance and leads to a long, complex, and persistent finish, fully reflecting the lengthy barrel ageing.

Pairings

It pairs perfectly with robust dishes based on red meats and game, where concentration, tannins, and persistence naturally meet. Its structure enhances slow-cooked preparations with bold flavours, maintaining balance thanks to its freshness.

When to serve

This is a red to choose when looking for a wine with great personality at the table, especially with rich, structured dishes. After proper oxygenation, it clearly expresses freshness and tannic texture; its capacity to age also makes it ideal for cellaring. Serving at a controlled temperature helps preserve aromatic definition and balance on the palate.
