Description
Campari is an Italian bitter with a distinctive bright carmine-red color, whose recipe was conceived by Gaspare Campari. The brand’s origins are tied to Novara and Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele; in 1904 the company’s first production facility was opened in Sesto San Giovanni.
The recipe is known to only a handful of production staff and has never been disclosed: it is estimated to include between 20 and 80 botanical ingredients, whose exact combination remains a closely guarded company secret.
On the nose it presents an intense aroma of grapefruit and orange, accompanied by herbal notes and cloves. On the palate it stands out for a pleasant bitter taste, supported by a warm, velvety backdrop.
A versatile drink, it is excellent neat over ice and is the base of famous cocktails such as the Americano, the Spritz, the Negroni and the Negroni Sbagliato: perfect as an aperitif.
