Description
What type of wine is it
Dolcetto d’Alba by Giacomo Fenocchio is a still red wine made from Dolcetto grapes grown in Monforte d’Alba, Piedmont. It features a dry and fresh style, with precise fruit notes and a slightly bitter finish. Vinification in stainless steel tanks with skin maceration and aging in both steel and bottle preserve its defined aromatic profile. Designed for the dining table, it offers balanced body and an easy drinkability, suitable throughout the meal.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards located in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, a hilly area of Piedmont known for its red wines. The region imparts the wine with a characteristic and recognizable personality, closely tied to the local winemaking tradition.
How it is produced
Dolcetto grapes are harvested at the end of September, with careful selection of the bunches. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with about ten days of skin maceration, extracting color and aromas without sacrificing freshness. Maturation continues in the same vessels, limiting oxidation and preserving fruit fragrance. A period in bottle completes the harmony and readies the wine for consumption.
Tasting notes
It presents a brilliant ruby red color with violet highlights. On the nose, it offers a fresh and vinous bouquet, with clear notes of cherry and plum typical of Dolcetto. On the palate it’s dry, with balanced body and well-integrated freshness. The finish delivers the traditional touch of bitterness, subtle tannins, and a clean close that invites you to another sip.
Food pairings
This red stands out for its versatility at the table, easily accompanying Piedmontese appetizers, cured meats, preserved vegetables, and aged cheeses. It also pairs well with agnolotti del plin with roast sauce, a classic Langhe dish, highlighting its fruity character and bitter finish. Excellent with oven-roasted white meats and first courses with delicate ragù, it always offers a smooth and enjoyable drink.
When to serve it
Dolcetto d’Alba by Giacomo Fenocchio is perfect for everyday and convivial occasions, both at lunch and dinner. Serve it slightly cool in medium-sized glasses to enhance the fruity aromas and clean taste. A brief aeration in the glass is sufficient; decanting is not necessary. Its maturation in steel makes it suitable for early consumption, but some years in the cellar can provide greater flavor integration.
